HIGH CLIMBING IN THE SOUTHERN ALPS.—A party of climbers from the Canterbury Mountaineering Club recently made an ascent of Mount Bannie (8300ft) a seldom-climbed peak at the head of the Mueller Glacier. This mountain will become a more popular climb now the new Three Johns’ Hut has been completed on the Barron Saddle. In this photograph, a member of the climbing party traverses the peak of Mount Bannie.
