DOMINION PHYSICAL LABORATORY: The fields of work open to trainees in this Laboratory include mechanical engineering, electronics and radiophysics, general physics, which includes research into neat transfer problems, the physics of plant growth and electron microscopy. There are possibilities of secondment for limited periods for scientific work in the Antarctic. INSTITUTE OF NUCLEAR SCIENCES: Work for trainees includes analysis of isotopes, radiation chemistry, measurement of radio-active fallout, age determination of fossils, the use of Carbon-14 as a biological tracer, radio-phosphorus in effluent disposal problems, and theoretical studies. QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: University Entrance, preferably in Mathematics. Chemistry, Physics or Biology, depending on the Division where employment is sought. (University Entrance level in Mathematics is essential for employment in the Dominion Physical Laboratory.) . COMMENCING SALARIES: With S.C. £415 and with U.E. £465.
