N.Z. RED CROSS SOCIETY

Redcliffs-Mount Pleasant Group

Impressions of life in Japan were given by Mrs I. J. Wilson, who recently visited there, at the final meeting for 1960 of the Redcliffs Mount Pleasant subcentre of the Red Cross Society. As the sub-centre is sponsoring a family in the Austrian Tyrol, Mrs H. Strassmeyer spoke on suitable items of clothing and house linen to include in gift parcels.' The Redcliffs School Junior Red Cross entertained with musical items, which included community carol singing. They were ■accompanied by Mrs G. Wilkins, and conducted by Mrs C. E. Allen.

It was decided to make the following payments from funds: £5 for disaster relief, and 10s for comforts to patients in the Cashmere Sanatorium geriatric ward. The president (Mrs W. Tisch) thanked those who had assisted with a recent fund-rais-ing appeal, when £45 was raised. A special afternoon tea was served, and the Christmas cake cut by Miss E. Souter. The president thanked the speaker and presented her with a posy of flowers.
