“Export Decline Led To Difficult Year” (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON. November 16 The British Prime Minister (Mr Macmillan) said today the decline in British exports had led to .a “difficult year ... in the immense and complicated balance of our transactions overseas.” He was addressing the National Union of Manufacturers in London. Mr Macmillan dashed any hopes ot an early end to the credit squeeze in Britain, saying that the total home demand, although responding to restraints, had continued to grow, and exports were going down.
