SHIPPING FREIGHT RATES

Mr Nash’s Promise To Farmers

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 16.

The Prime Minister (Mr Nash) has promised Auckland Federated Farmers an examination of some aspects of the shipping freight rates for primary produce charged by the Conference Lines between New Zealand and Europe. In reply to a request from the farmers for an investigation, Mr Nash said the rates were a matter for negotiation between the primary producer organisations and the shipping companies.

“However,” Mr Nash said in a letter received by the Farmers today, “some points associated with this matter I will examine and discuss with my colleagues.”
