ELECTIONS IN DENMARK

Socialists Gain Record Vote COPENHAGEN, Nov. 16 Denmark’s Social Democrats, who have led the country for seven years, gained six more seats in yesterday’s general election and became the first political party in Denmark to win more than 1.000.000 votes. But their allies in the outgoing Coalition Government, the Radicals and the Henry Georgist Single-tax Party, suffered heavily. and the Prime Minister (Mr Viggo Kampmann) is expected to propose to King Frederik the formation of a Socialist minority government. The Social Democrats now hold 76 seats in the 129-seat Folketing (Parliament).

The Liberals, who lost 8 seats, now have 38 The Conservatives, who gained 2, have 32. The Single-Tax Party, formerly a member of the ruling coalition, was knocked out of Parliament altogether. It had held 9 seats.
