BROADCAST AT BLENHEIM

No Further Meetings

(Neto Zealand Press Association) BLENHEIM, Nov. 15. The Marlborough Trotting Club has a grievance. Given a permit to broadcast its meeting earlier this year (as was the Marlborough 'Racing Club), it built at a cost of: £2BO and at the request of the Hroadci sting Service a broaddbsting box described as the best-'ln the country. Hie trotting dub has now been told that there will be no further broadcasts of its meetings; The racing club has not yet received any similar advice.

When making its original .application in 1959, the trotting dub was told by the Director of Broadcasting (Mr J. H. E. Schroder) that the selection -of meetings o be broadcast was left to the New Zealand Trotting Conference, but it was stipulated that clubs in most need of assistance would be considered first

It has been found that when a meeting is broadcast the offcourse investments rise. In the case of the Marlborough Trotting Club s two-day centennial meeting, ttiey rose by almost £lO,OOO. move is a request to toe Minister of Broadcasting (the Hon. R, Board) to review tire ease, but So far after a month, the letter has not been acknowledged.
