ELECTRICITY AND WOMEN
City Branch Of Association
The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) has called a meeting for tomorrow to discuss the formation of a Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Electrical Association for Women. Twenty-three women’s organisations have been asked to send representatives and the public has been invited. The idea of an association arose when Viscountess Kilmuir visited New Zealand and gave a public address in Wellington on the work of the British association which was founded 25 years ago. With the decision to form a New Zealand association, the Government granted £5OO towards the formation, and it has now been decided to form branches in the four main centres. The association is open to all women interested in electricity and its objective is to teach them the advantages of electrical equipment, to make use of their ideas on design and instruct them in maintenance and repairs as far as the law permits.
