North Linwood Wins

North Linwood I, which was beaten in the final of the men’s senior reserve tennis competition last Saturday, made a fine start to this season when it beat University by 6 matches to 0 at Wilding Park on Saturday. North Linwood and University were in different sections last season but this season they are playing in the same section. Results were:’— Section I North Linwood beat University by 6 matches to 0, Beckenham beat Cashmere by 8 sets to 7, Fendalton beat Elmwood by 6 matches to 0, Avonside beat Edgeware I by 8 sets to 7, Opawa I beat St. Albans by 51 games to 50. Section II North Linwood II beat Edgeware II by 9 sets to 8, Cashmere II beat Woolston by 5 matches to 1, Shirley beat Opawa II by 66 games to 64, South Brighton beat Aranui by 5 matches to 1. FIRST GRADE MIXED Section II Avonside beat Waimairi II by 14 matches to 2, Elmwood beat Shirley by 14 matches to 2, Cathedral beat St. Albans by 15 matches to 1. SECOND GRADE MIXED Section I St. James’ beat North Linwood by 13 matches to 3, Public Hospital beat Linwood by 10 matches to 6.
