Mrs Pressler Not Guilty Of Murder

A jury late last night acquitted Mrs Enid Ethel Pressler. aged 53, a widow, of having murdered her brother-in-law, Henry Edward Pressler. aged 87. at her home in Bundsberg, near Brisbane, on June 7. Henry Pressler was found shot in bed with a rifle nearby. The Crown alleged that a confession to a murder last year at nearby Kalkie. allegedly signed by Henry Pressler and found near the body, was a forgery. Neville William Pressler. aged 29. Mrs Pressler's son and Henry Pressler's nephew, was convicted last November and sentenced to life imprisonment tor the murder of Mrs Marjorie Frances Gnlchert at Kalkie on May 15. 1959. Neville Pressler has petitioned for a Royal pardon and the confession allegedly signed by Henry Pressler. was attached to the petition The Crown alleged that Mrs Pressler forged the confession and murdered Henry Pressler. She denied the charge, and said she found the body and the confession after Henry Pressler had apparently suicided.
