WOMEN’S CLUB
47th Birthday Party
The history of the Canterbury Women’s Club was depicted in an entertaining pageant when the club held its forty-seventh birthday party in its clubrooms last evening. Facets of the club’s literary, bridge, and other circles, the club’s war effort and a parade of fashions worn over the years by members were highlights of the pageant It concluded with a glimpse into the future, when two “moon-men” paraded before guests.
Other items included a piano trio, a miming act and vocal solos.
Gay paper hats, made for the occasion by Mrs L. Jenkins, complemented the evening dress worn by members. The birthday cake was cut by Mrs G. Finney. The club president Mrs C. Shaw, presided, and announced that a legacy of £lOO had been left to the/dtib by one of its oldest members, the late Mrs C. T. Gerton.
- The accompanist for the evening was Mrs Mabel Mason. Floral
arrangements by the club’s garden circle decorated the clubrooms tor the occasion.
