EASING OF TENSIONS

Indian Move Approved NEW YORK. October 17 All 91 nations present at the United Nations General Assembly tonight voted for a resolution, introduced by India, which urged immediate and constructive steps to ease the urgent problems afiecting the peace of the world. Both the Soviet Union and the United States spoke in favour of the resolution. The resolution, sponsored by 20 nations, was Introduced by India's Defence Minister (Mr V. K. Krishna Menon) at the end of his policy speech to the Assembly. He also suggested a United rations levy for helping in the economic development of industrially backward areas Mr Valerian Zorin, promised Russia's support for the draft and said that the Soviet Union was a consistent champion of reducing international tensions. He accused the West of pursuing a policy aimed at aggravating the international situation and continuing the cold war. The United States joined other States in supporting th? resolution.
