FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cold front is moving on to the South Island from the south-west. Forecast:— Canterbury and the Kaikoura coast.—Moderate to fresh winds, between northeast and north-west at first, with partly cloudy, mild weather; a change to fresh south to south-west winds spreading from the south during the day, with showers and cooler temperatures Outlook: showers. West Coast.—Moderate to fresh winds, between west and north at first, turning south-wgst during the day; weather changeable, with showers and fair intervals; temperatures becoming cooler. Outlook fine. Marlborough Sounds and Nelson. North to north-west winds, fresh to. strong in Cook Strait, moderate to fresh elsewhere; weather cloudy, with some scattered light rain late in the day. Outlook: scattered light rain. Central Marlborough.—Moderate northerly to westerly winds; weather fine at first, with moderate temperatures, but cloud increasing during the day. Outlook: scattered showers.
