Drowned Youth’s Body Recovered

(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 12. The body of William Smith, aged 18, of Lawrence, was recovered from the Phoenix dam, about four miles from Lawrence, today after residents had been dragging the dam with grapples since dawn. Earlier efforts by skin-divers of the Otago Underwater Club had been unsuccessful. The youth was drowned on Monday evening. He was fishing with Raymond Hill, aged 18, also of Lawrence, when their punt capsized.
