AID TO DISABLED

Mr Nash Praises League’s Work

(IVew Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 12. The Disabled Servicemen’s Reestablishment League was commended by the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) for "the high sense of responsibility has shown towards the less fortunate,” when he opened the annual meeting of the league’s Dominion council today.

The organisation was doing more than was expected of it, he said. It had been set up to assist those who had suffered during the war years and although there were fewer who needed this help, the organisation was not being wound up but was turning to other aspects and the civilian disabled were benefiting. Since the inception of the civilian training scheme, 33 civilians had been trained so that they could undertake outside employment, said Mr Nash. The president of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association (Mr K. W. Fraser) said that when it was formed more than a quarter of a century ago, the league was held in high regard by the public. Now, 26 years later, it was held in even higher regard because it had achieved worthwhile results.

"The R.S.A. is Interested In what you are doing and will give you what aid it can,” he said.
