Aircraft Turned Over By Gust

Buffeted by a strong, gusty north-west wind, a Tiger Moth was tunned on to its back just after it landed at Christchurch airport early yesterday afternoon. The pilot and passenger stepped out unhurt. The plane’s propeller broke, and the rudder and wing-tips were

damaged slightly. Crash tenders raced out to the overturned plane, but were not needed. The pilot, Mr I. Evans, of Nelson, said the wind caught the plane after he had finished landing. “It was a good landing.” He had just flown from Nelson. The plane, ZK-BVN, is owned by Mr Evans.
