THE SYDNEY “BULLETIN”
Takeover Bid Announced (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, October 11. A take over offer of more than £400,000 has been made for the historical national magazine, the Sydney "Bulletin.” by Australian Consolidated Press, Ltd. Bulletin Newspaper Company Pty. directors have recommended that the 55 shareholders of the private company accept the offer. Australian Consolidated Press made the offer through their subsidiary, Compress Printing, Ltd., of £3 7s 6d for each of Bulletin's 124.000 £1 shares. The “Bulletin” was founded in 1880 and quickly established itself as a political and literary force throughout Australia. Australian Consolidated Press publications include the Sydney “Daily Telegraph” and “Sunday Telegraph,” the mass-circulation magazines, “Australian Women’s Weekly” and “Weekend.” and a fortnightly review, the “Observer” —a rival of the weekly “Bulletin.”
