ADOPTED CATS LONG WALK
New Brighton To - Riccarton An adopted cat walked "home” all the way from New Brighton to Riccarton last Thursday. The story began a month ago when a woman in Peverel street, Riccarton, found that her pet cat had been joined by another — apparently a well-fed grey cat, with white face and white front paws—-which showed no sign of departing. - • With the newcomer well settled in, the woman found it too much to feed two cats, and accordingly advertised for the cat’s owner. Nobody claimed it. Last Sunday, the woman’s son paid her a visit, saw the newcomer, admired it, and heard its story. He took the cat home with him to New Brighton in his car, and on Monday telephoned his mother to -say that it had “settled in” well, and was already a great favourite with his children. On UiUEaday morning, as the woman in Peverel street went out to pick up her copy ot "The Press," there, sitting waiting for her, was her adopted grey cat, apparently having walked all the way from New Brighton. The only accident suffered on its journey was a slightlyscratched face.
