PROFIT OF £679

Annual Report At Cheviot The Cheviot Trotting Club showed a profit of £679 for the year ended July 31 last, according to figures released ait the club’s annual meeting. - The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Anderton) and the president of the New Zealand Trotting Conference (Mr C.' S. Thomas) had -visited the club’s property at Spotswood during the year, said the president (Mr J. F. Wade) in his report. As a result of discussions with the committee regarding the venue for future meetings, a new agreement had been signed with the Rangiora Trotting Club to race there in partnership, on more favourable terms, for a further five years. Officers elected were:—Patrons, Messrs T. P. Shand, N. R. Wilkinson, J. Paton, H. J. Hewson; president, Mr Wade; vice-presidents, Messrs A. M. Smith,'.A. S. Murray, C. Morrison, A. S. Clarke; committee, Messrs J. D. Calder, A. P, Collloty, E. P. Honeybone, H. Honeybone, D. Morrison, W. E. Drake, W. Martin, N. Sutherland, L. Burnett, E. Parr, W. J. Elliott, A. Partington; honorary treasurer, Mr R. G. Archer; honorary treasurer, Mr Wade. Guiseppe For ■ N.Z. Cup Guiseppe is a certain entry for the New Zealand Cup, which will be run at Addington on Tuesday, November 8. His trainer, H. M. Allen, has announced that the horse will be an acceptor for the cup even if he fails to win a race at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting on October 22 and 26. Guiseppe is at present assessed at 4min 24sec for two miles and he requires one distance win to be correctly placed on the front of the cup. A distance win at Auckland would put him on his correct mark. Horses assessed at slower than 4min 23sec for two miles may be entered for the cup, but should the club find it necessary to reduce the size of the field, it is likely that these horses would be the first to be eliminated.
