THEATRE SEATS SLASHED

peccable technique and tone,

Damage By Vandals In Auckland (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 2. Vandalism in picture theatres, including the slashing of seats with razors, costs theatre companies hundreds of pounds each year. Auckland theatres have many examples of this vandalism—-razor-slashed padded seats, broken metal seat standards and twisted seat backs. Theatre managers said today that vandalism was very hard to detect. It was mostly done in darkness during a screening, and unless the offenders were in line with the projection light they could not normally be detected.
