USE OF ELECTRIC BLANKETS

Contractors See “No Undue Hazard” (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 2. The issue of “irresponsible statements” about electric blankets, without knowledge of the full facts, was deplored by the Electrical Contractors’ Association at its annual conference in Queenstown. A statement to this effect was issued when the conference ended on Saturday. “Provided electric blankets are used in accordance with the instructions issued with each blanket, there is no undue hazard,” added the statement. A resolution that the executive should investigate the establishment of an industrial union of employers was passed and referred to the incoming executive for action. Although no firm date has been set, the next annual meeting of the association will be held in Auckland, about October, 1961.
