The Ha we ra-trained three-vear-o Id Blue Lodge gave an attractive *>erformance to win the Ruihi Wehlpeihana Memorial Handicap, second leg of the T.A.B. double on the concluding day of the Otaki Maori Racing Club’s spring meeting on Satur%ue Lodge is unbeaten In three starts this season and will race next in the Wellington Guineas at Trentham on October 15. The first leg of the double, the Rere Nikitin! Memorial Handicap, was won by the Otaki-tralned Supreme Justice, which narrowly beat Lesparre and the favourite Breve. The double dividend for Supreme Justice and Blue Lodge was £43 13s for £l. The weather was fine and mild and the track was dead. There was a good attendance. On-course investments amounted to £56.399 10s, compared with £59,243 on the second day last year, a decrease of £2843 10s. The total for the two days was £115.542 10s, an increase of £14,621 10s. J. G. Farrel, owner-tratner of the two-year-old Waterman. which finished second a nose behind Sheilah Dhu in the Juvenile Handicap, protested against the winner on the grounds of interference to Waterman at the three furlongs. After hearing the evidence the stewards B laced Waterman first and Sheilah hu second. B. N. Mahoney, rider of Sheilah Dhu. was fined £5. After the running of the Manauao Trial. N. W. Belsham rider of Highland Sprite, which finished second, protested against the winner Lucky Bird on the grounds of interference in the last furlong.
