Canterbury Player In Benefit Match (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 2. A big crowd at Paraparaumu today was delighted with the Rugby displayed by two teams which included many New Zealand and Rest representatives, but an aspect other than the actual play impressed them as much. This was the appearance of D. J. Davison on a wing for half the match. Davison, a Canterbury speedster, received a severe ankle injury in the Lions-Junior New Zealand match at Athletic Park last season. It was thought he. might never play Rugby again after his long spell in hospital. Today he showed that he has regained his pace, and he looked fit The match, between I. N. Macewan’s Fifteen and D. G. Harker’s Fifteen, was to assist the Athletic Rugby Club’s gymnasium fund. Macewan’s Fifteen 44, beat Harker’s Fifteen 32, and the fund benefited by about £lBO.
