CAR STRIKES TREE

Man Seriously Injured

When his car somersaulted after striking a tree in Bridle Path road shortly after 3 a.m. yesterday. Brian James Olley. aged 20, of 44 Horotane valley, suffered severe multiple injuries. He was taken by St. John Ambulance to the Christchurch Hospital where his condition was described last evening as comfortable, although he was still on the seriouly ill list

The accident occurred about a quarter of a mile on the Heathcote valley side of the Heathvote bridge. The force of the impact wrecked the car. Its left side, which struck the tree, was crushed and stove in to the passenger's seat and the bodywork. chassis, and engine were twisted out of alignment Mr Olley was the only person in the car.
