DELIVERIES DELAYED
Friendships For NA.C. “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. The National Airways Corporation’s first four Fokker Friendship aircraft have been held uf in production by up to a month However, the first one will stil be in New Zealand in time tc begin its scheduled service or December 22. The deputy-general manager o! N.A.C. (Mr D. A. Patterson) sale yesterday that the arrival date: of the four aircraft would not b( known until October 15. A cablegram from the Fokkei company said a production hitch had delayed the completion o: the aircraft. No details of the delay were given. The first Fokker, commander by N.A.C.’s chief pilot (Captair G. Harvey) was due in Wellington on November 21. The other: were due on December 30, February 11, and February 26. It is not certain yet whethe: the other three aircraft will b( in New Zealand in time to take up their appointed High' schedules. Captain Harvey was to have left New Zealand this week fo: Holland to meet the chairman ol the N.A.C. board (Sir Leonarc Isitt) and the general manage: (Captain J. J. Busch), who -are already overseas, for discussion: with officials of the Fokker com. pany and for a survey of presen' trends in aircraft production ant operation.
