200 WATCHES STOLEN

Showcase Opened With Jemmy

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 2. About 200 watches, both men’s and women’s, worth about £2500 were stolen when a showcase at Clements and Holmes, Ltd., manufacturing jewellers, Willis street. Wellington, was.jemmied open on Friday night. The watches were in a showcase at the top of the stairs on .the first floor near the main entrance to the showrooms. The case was locked, but the thieves had apparently no difficulty in forcing it open.

They took the watches only. They did not attempt to take any of the clocks locked in another display case above the watches, and they made no attempt to force their way into the premises themselves.

Entry was gained through a louvre window at the rear of the building. The case contained solid gold, rolled gold. and chromium watches.
