Detective R. Bamber, of Lyttelton, made the arrest. The man will appear in the Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of breaking. entering and theft On Friday Mr A. W. H. Falla of Cashmere arrived at his holiday home at Diamond Harbour about 8 p.m. to find that someone had removed a radio, clock, camera, rifle and various personal and business papers. He immediately reported to the police. A local person who saw the man enter Mr Falla’s house by the doorway gave a description of the man and the car in which he had arrived.
Looking out of his window on Saturday night, Mr Falla saw what he thought to be the car pull up opposite. The man driving it glanced up across the street, saw Mr Falla and drove off at high speed. Lyttelton police were told and Mr Falla attempted to chase the fast moving car but lost the trail. Detective Bamber picked up the car and its occupant at Governors Bay.
