PREPARATION FOR MARRIAGE

Talks To Senior School Pupils

“Talks on preparation for Christian marriage have been given 4-ecently to senior pupils of several secondary schools and it is hoped to increase the number of schools visited at the end of this year.” said the diocesan president (Mrs •S. E. Woods) at a recent meeting in Christchurch of the Mothers’ Union Council. As all social conditions affecting the family were of vital concern to the Mothers’ Union, members agreed that remits submitted at the Dominion conference of the National Council of Women were to receive their full support. Particular remits covered such questions as hire-pur-chase agreements undertaken by children under the age of 18 years and the need to enforce the law governing the sale of' liquor to minors. A presentation of flowers was made to the retiring vice-presi-dent, Mrs E. A. Gowing, and guests welcomed by the president were: The Dominion president of the New Zealand Mothers’ Union council, Mrs A. K. Warren; the newly-elected vice-president of the Mothers’ Union council, Mrs I. L. Richards; the acting representative for South Canterbury, Mrs W. E. Pierre: and the representative for Mid-Canterbury, Mrs |F. R. H. Wright.
