RANGIORA. 303.60. 2593 NORTH CANTERBURY HOSPITAL BOARD Christchurch, New Zealand POSITION OF PSYCHIATRIC OFFICER APPLICATIONS are invited from qualifidh medical practitioners possessing experience, and preferably . a qualification, in psychiatry for the position of Psychiatric Officer to the Board. The appointee 'will be required to initiate a psychiatric service for the Board s public 'hospitals which serve a population of some 250,000. The position is intended initially to be a whole-time one, without the right of private practice, but after the Psychiatric Department has been established for a reasonable period, the Board would be prepared to consider converting the appointment to a visiting basis, with the right of private practice. The salary paid will be determined by the provisions of the Hospital Employment (Medical Officers) Regulations. At present these provide scales between £2lOO per annum and £2650 per annum (New Zealand currency) for a suitably qualified wholetime appointee. The Board will grant liberal assistance with travelling expenses to New Zealand to a successful applicant, his wife and dependent children, provided the applicant is resident in the United Kingdom at the time of .appointment and subject to a guarantee of at least two years’ service to the Board.
