„®fr G. K. Thompson, the Malayan Secretary of Defence, accompanied by Mrs Thompson, is making a private tour of New Zealand. They will visit the South Island before leaving Christchurch by air for Australia on October 12.—(P.A.) Mr W. A. Mac Allister has been elected chairman of the Canterbury and West Coast centre of the St. John Ambulance Association. He replaces the late Mr J. H. Rhodes.
