MAN ATTACKED BY YOUTHS

Refusal To Inform Police

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept 22. A young man was attacked by a gang of at least six youths in Wellington tonight, but he refused to report the matter to the police. “If I make a charge the gang will get me later,” he said. The attack took place in Mercer street, near the public library. The young man said he was a jockey, and lived in Christchurch. He could give no reason for the attack. He said the gang threw him to the pavement and kicked him several times. It made off when a crowd began to gather. A constable asked the man to accompany him to the police station, but the offer was declined, and no police action was taken.
