LONDON TRADE POST

Commissioner’s Plea For Co-operation

A plea for the constant supply of the latest developments in industry of New Zealand from manufacturers themselves was made by Mr K. L. Press, newly appointed senior trade commissioner in London, when he Was entertained at morning tea yesterday by the council of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association.

Because of the United Kingdom’s involvement in the European market situation, the present was a ticklish arid difficult time for New Zealand, said Mr Press.

If those engaged in trade and manufacturing felt they were not being fully represented by overseas trading posts, they had every right to squeal, said Mr Press, but they could not do that unless they offered the fullest co-opera-tion to the commissioners.

From his recent experiences overseas. New Zealand trade commissioners were doing a splendid job, said Mr 3. K. Dobson (president of the Manufacturers’ Association). Mr Press, who was in the Customs Department for 34 years and was assistant comptroller until recently, will leave for London on October 16. He is making a visit to most parts of New Zealand to meet traders and manufacturers.
