Khrushchev’s Views
NEW YORK, Sept. 21. “Why should I?’* Mr Khrushchev said at an informal press conference last night when he wac asked if he would seek a meeting with President Eisenhower. Chatting to reporters in the lobby of the United Nations General Assembly hall, the Soviet Prime Minister was asked if he had any plans to meet President Eisenhower. “Have you any information that Eisenhower plans to ask for such a meeting?” he replied. Then he was asked if he would ask for a meeting with President Eisenhower. “Why should I?" he replied. Length of Stay Asked how long he planned to stay in New York, Mr Khrushchev replied that he would attend “every meeting.” “When I was a working man, I was accustomed to working every day,” he said. “I will stay only two weeks after the end of the session.” Mr Khrushchev made the remark with a twinkle In his eye as if to keep the reporters in confusion as to the probable length of his stay.
