KAIAPOI WHARF
No. 2 Berth To Be Replaced
Approval for the replacement of the Na 2 berth ait the Kaiapoi wharf has been given to the Kaiapoi Borough Council by the North Canterbury Catchment Board. Notice of this was received at a meeting of the council on Monday evening. The board also asked that the borough consult the board’s engineering staff before erecting any buildings on reserves close to the river bank, because of the proposed Waimakariri river improvements scheme which requires provision of an adequate water way in the Kaiapoi river for the protection of the borough. Representatives of the Collingwood Shipping Company have been invited to meet members of the council to discuss the site, and nature of a proposed wharf shed to be built at Kaiapoi.
