“LOST” PIG DOGS TURN KILLERS

Destruction Of 67 Sheep

(New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI, Sept 19. Two pig dogs, lost by their Palmerston North owners on a pighunting expedition two weeks ago, have killed at least 35 sheep belonging to Messrs J. H. Thompson and P. Harrison, of Tokomaru East and 32 ewes belonging to Mr L. Grant Allen on his “Wairangi” property, between Tokomaru East and Raorikia.

Originally it was thought some Of these sheep had been shot. Mr Alien’s manager, Mr K. Allen, while on his rounds during lambing, saw the dogs some distance away. By the time he was close enough to shoot one of the dogs they had killed two ewes and was worrying a third. The second dog is still at large.
