General Conditions of Service at Campbell Island Campbell Island is a Government Scientific Station inhabited only by staff and organised as an expedition. Staff are required to carry out whatever work : is assigned by the Officer in Charge. No overtime is paid, but special allowances which include this element are £273 a year single men; £323 a year married men Furlough: 3 days for every complete month spent on the Island for broken periods, or 42 days a year. Families of married appointees cannot accompany them. Staff are housed in a new residential block: board and lodging are free; a free clothing issue is given. Medical and dental fitness is essential. Appointment will be for approximately one year, with extensions in suitable cases. Appointees leave New Zealand in approximately November, 1960.
