Angling Contest
New Zealand has been invited to nominate a representative to compete in a “world championship” freshwater angling contest in the United States next month. The contest, which will last from October 15 to October 23, will be a fishing tour of the state of Michigan. A champion will be crowned for each daily round of fishing—which will include rainbow trout, lake trout, black bass, northern pike, and other species —and the “world championship” title will be decided on the greatest number of points scored throughout the tour. Bonus points will be awarded for the use of light tackle. The New Zealand represenative will pay for his own transport to and from Michigan, but will be the guest of the contest Organisers for the nine days of the contest Secretaries of all acclimatisation societies have been asked for nominations.—(P.A.)
