APPEARANCE OF SATELLITE

Visible Until End Of September

"Hie American balloon satellite Bobo 1, will appear over New Zealand from the north-west todayabout 4.43 a.m, according to calculations made by Mr C. S. L. Keay, a lecturer in physics at the University of Canterbury. The satellite will disappear in the south-east at 5.4 am.

If the sky is clear it will be seen due north of the four main centres ait the following times and elevations: Auckland, 4.53 a.m., 60 degrees; Wellington, 4.53 a.m.. 45 degrees; Christchurch, 4.52 a.m., 33 degrees; Dunedin, 4.51 a.m.. 30 degrees. On Saturday morning at approximately 6.36 am. the satellite will pass vertically over Christchurch at a distance of 1000 miles. Although the sky will be getting light about this time it should be clearly seen, especially when it appears from low in the sky between north and northwest at 6.25 rm.

On Sunday morning the satellite will pass over at approximately 6.13 a.m. From information now accumulated by Mir Keay it is possible to say that Echo 1 will continue to make appearances over New Zealand in the early morning until almost the end of September, hi October it should again become visible in the evenings.
