St. Martins-Opawa Garden Club

The St. Martins-Opawa Garden Club celebrated its twenty-first anniversary recently by holding an afternon party at Wilding Park.

Mrs O. M. Miller, first president and patron of the club, and the current president (Mrs C. P. Collins) welcomed the guests. Specially-invited guests were Mr and Mrs J. R. Templin, Mrs E. L. King, past presidents, past secretaries and foundation members.

Mr Templin gave a short talk on the formation of garden clubs. St. Martins-Opawa was the first garden club formed in Christchurch. A humorous sketch, arranged by. Mrs Joy Johnstone, and Norwegian songs by Mrs K. Newson were included in the programme of entertainment. The accompanist was Mrs A. Gallagher. Mrs Collins presented small gifts to the artists and special guests.

A birthday cake was cut by Mrs Miller and Mrs Templin.
