Teacher Shortage In Taranaki

(New Zeaiana Press Atsoctationl NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept 1. Taranaki schools reopening on Monday would use more than 70 relieving teachers, of whom 13 were unqualified, the assistant secretary-manager of the board (Mr J. Boddy) said today. “The recruiting position is not good,” said Mr Boddy. "We have no teachers coming from the United Kingdom under the Education Department scheme for which the department’s recruiting officer, Mr S. Utting, recruited more than 90 teachers for New Zealand schools. However, we are working with the British Overseas Settlement of Women’s League and hope to obtain some teachers through that organisation.” «
