Bill Provides For Registration

(New Zealand Press Association/ WELLINGTON. September 1. A Nurses and Midwives Amendment Bill, to make provision for the registration of psychopedic nurses, who attend intellectuallyhandicapped children, was introduced in the House of Representatives today. Psychopedic nurses will not be permitted to be registered until they are 21. The LUI provides for the approval of training schools for psychopedic nursesMiscellaneous changes to the principal act are also made. These include provision for the appointment of a deputy-registrar of nurses and midwives, who shall be the deputy-director of the Division of Nursing of the Health Department. Under one of these new provisions nursing aids with appropriate qualifications obtained out of New Zealand will be entitled to registration. A register for psychopedic nurses will be made and separate registers created for midmaternity nurses. The biU also prescribes additional qualifications entitling apl plicants to be registered as psyI chiatnc nurses.
