1500 Gallons Of Fuel Jettisoned

(New Zeauma Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 30. A Tasman Empire Airways Electra had to jettison 1500 gallons of fuel off the west coast of the North Island this evening when it returned to Whenuapai with a mechanical fault The airliner, bound for Nandi, left on schedule at 6.30 p.m.. Soon after take-off, a fault was noticed in a torque meter and No. 1 engine was cut. The passengers were transferred to another Electra which arrived from Sydney at 7.15 p.m. and they left again for Nandi at 9.15 p.m.
