Drilling Stopped On Oil Project (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, August 25. Drilling operations at the Mangaone No. 1 deep test bore in the 8.P.-Shell-Todd oil exploration project near Morere have been suspended while drillers endeavour to recover 102 feet at boring rod and a bit jammed 4000 feet down the well.

The rod was lost some days ago when the mudstone formation through which the well is being l pushed collapsed. Since then drillers have been trying to remove the rod by numerous means but so far all have tailed.
