CAR CRASHES ON SEA COAST

Christchurch Woman

.Injured A Christchurch woman was injured and her small English car was extensively damaged when it left the road and crashed over a 50ft bank on the highway 18 miles north of Kaikoura yesterday. The car rolled a further 40ft over rocks on the shore and came to rest at the water’s edge. The owner, who was a passenger in the car, was Mrs M. J. Lovell-Smith, of 10 Browning street, Christchurch. She suffered a fractured arm. bruises, lacerations, and shock. She was taken by ambulance to the Kaikoura Hospital where her condition last evening was reported as satisfactory. The driver was Mr A. A. Murray-Oliver, of 1 Hawkestone terrace, Wellington. He also was taken to hospital; but was found not to be injured. A break-down vehicle pulled the damaged car clear before it was swamped by a quickly-rising tide. •
