P. JONES OUT FOR REST OF SEASON

Injured Leg Sore After Trial

[From T. P. McLEAN. "New Zealand Herald" correspondent, by arrangement with the N.Z.PAI PORT ELIZABETH. August 23. The hopes raised, after his appearance against Western Transvaal a fortnight ago, that P. F. Jones would be available for consideration for the All Black team to play the Springboks in the fourth test at Port Elizabeth on Saturday, have unfortunately been dispersed. Jones tried out his injured leg at a run on Sunday, and by Monday the torn muscle in his groin was so sore that he decided then and there to give up all Rugby for the season. This means he will miss an appearance at Durban next week for the newly-formed South African Barbarians against Natal. Jones was one of the eight All Blacks who had been invited to play for the club.
