Women’s Long Jump Record Broken

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) FRANKFURT, August 7. Hildrun Claus, of East Germany, created a new world record for the women’s long jump of 20ft 11.97 in at an East-West German elimination meeting to pick a joint Olympic team at Erfurt, East Germany. Miss Claus had jumped 20ft 10.39 in earlier in the meeting.. The previous record of 20ft lOin was held by Elzbieta Krzesinska, of Poland, who achieved the distance twice—at Budapest in August, 1956, and again at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne.
