High Tides At Lyttelton

Lyttelton experienced higher tides than usual last week and over last week-end. On Friday afternoon the tide rose about 18in higher than the 6.Bft predicted, and tides were also high on Saturday and Sunday. A high tide of 7.lft was predicted for 4.17 p.m. on Sunday, and motorists driving around Monck’s Bay and McCormack's Bay noticed that the water was only about 6in from the level of the road. The outgoing tides have also been lower than predicted over the last few days.
