KNOCK-OUT CONTEST
Clubs Said To Lack Interest
Two teams. Old Boys and New Brighton, had not entered for the senior Rugby knock-out competition, but the other 10 teams in the senior grade would take part, the secretary (Mr M. Teague) told the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening. Mr J. Storey said there was a lack of interest in the knock-out competition and Albion had applied for a friendly match on a date which clashed with the second round of the competition. Either Albion was expecting to be eliminated in the first round or the team was not interested in the competition, he said. Two years ago clubs wanted more football, but last year the interest had faded. This year the interest was less, Mr Storey said. The president (Mr H. C. Blazey) said that if the clubs did not want to take part in the competition it would be a waste of time arranging it. The matter was entirely over to the clubs and the committee would wait this week to see if the Interest Increased.
