MAN CHARGED WITH HAVING OPIUM
Remanded To Appear Next Week (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 1. On charges of being found in possession of prepared opium and pipes and other utensils for use in the smoking of opium, John Hunter Ross-Smith, aged 46, a workman, was remanded for one week by Mr J. B. Thomson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court in Wellington. > On a further charge of breaking and entering and theft from a jeweller’s premises, Ross-Smith was also remanded for a week. Jointly appearing with him on this charge were James Wilkie Ness, aged 33, a workman, and Wilfred White, aged 46, seaman and cook;
They were also remanded-for a week.
