Customs Returns For July
Revenue collected by the Customs Department in Christchurch during July was £830.299. against £930,138 in the same month last year. Customs and excise was £;63.521 down at £310,838. while sales tax was £29.852 lower at £173,307. Total, with figures for July last year in parenthesis, are as follows: Customs and excise, £510,836 (£574,357); petrol tax, £141.280 (£149.038); tyres. £1037 (£281); sales tax. £173.307 (£203.150); light dues. £952 (£1476); miscellaneous. £2887 (£1547); total. £830.299 (£930,158). AI'CILANB Customs revenue collected at the port of Auckland during July, with the figures for July last year in parentheses, was:— Customs. £1.198,549 (£1442.690). petrol, £453.300 (£447,404); tyres. £1690 (£1062). sales tax, £404.395 (£365,458). other. £454,045 (£403,813). Totals. £2,521,078 (£2,660.427). Wattle Canneries.—-United Kingdom and European markets will buy at least 2500 tons of frozen peas, worth more than £200,000, from Wattie Canneries, Hastings, next season.
